Many of my published novels and short stories are connected through characters, artifacts, or locations. Although these stories stand on their own, they will ultimately bring several characters together to face one major threat in the nine-part Salvation series. With book 1, Salvation, releasing in the fall of 2023, I thought this blog would be a great space to break down the characters who will be involved and their stories thus far. Moving in timeline order, we have to start with Ghost Hunter Z.
The Magic Mirror of Agnes Waterhouse: It all starts here. This short story follows an American entrepreneur Ghost Hunter Z, who has the ability to see ghosts, as he arrives in London in 1879. Z gets right into things when he's hired by a relic hunter to obtain a magic mirror, created by an ancient witch. One Night in Highgate: Z's story continues as he's hired to track down a killer ghost in the world's most famous cemetery. But first, Z will attempt something new with the ghosts that he sees all around him. Communication. One Night in Highgate was published in GORE 2: A Halloween Anthology.
Ghost Hunter Z: The first of a three-book series, Ghost Hunter Z embarks on a case that teams him with the venerable Inspector Charles Grant to uncover the mystery of a haunting and to take on an ancient evil.
The Nightmare Tree: Book 2 in the Ghost Hunter Z Trilogy, Z is hired to track down a missing boy who shares his gift of sight, while Inspector Grant follows clues to uncover who's behind the abduction. The case leads Z to a realm of nightmares.
Staff of Set: In book 3 of the trilogy, Ghost Hunter Z is in a race to recover the pieces of an ancient staff that gives its wielder great power. Seether, the new King of Demons, hopes to use the staff to recreate the world in his own image.
The Franklin Stewart Series: Although this series takes place in the present day, hints of Ghost Hunter Z's involvement in the enchanted town of Lilith's Hollow have surfaced. The upcoming third book in the trilogy could reveal whether or not he'll play a much larger role in the series finale.
Salvation Series: Although Z doesn't appear in Salvation book 1, he will play a major part in books 2 through 9. Look for more from the ghost-hunting gunslinger in the years to come.
The Ghost Hunter Z Trilogy introduces many of the themes and characters that populate the Schneiderverse. This includes the concept of the 10 Magics that states many magic users are adept at one magic or another. Z can see ghosts, Mrs. Belfry can conjure lightning, The Goat has superhuman strength.
